LAKE FOREST, CALIF. – AUGUST 24, 2009 – Infineon Raceway, in conjunction with the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma, hosted Formula Drift Round 6: Locked and Loaded. In front of tens of thousands of race fans attending both the Formula Drift and Indy race, the Dynamic Autosports / Hankook Tire Drift Team took to the track to dominate their competition. Sonoma is well known for its extremely high entry speeds and its long right hand sweeper, which requires a difficult e-brake initiation, precision timing and most importantly, guts. This course has seen entry speeds in the triple digits, and inversely many competition vehicles have met their match here on this course. The Dynamic Autosports / Hankook Tire 350z piloted by veteran driver Robbie Nishida (9th place driver in standings overall), was able to successfully qualify into the Top 32 driver qualifier for the main event; a feat Robbie has been able to accomplish consistently all season long.

During the Top 16 driver qualifier, Robbie Nishida had the unfortunate luck of bracketing with Scion Racing’s Ken “The Future” Gushi. In round one, Ken led as Robbie followed bumper to bumper into turn one. They began their high speed e-brake initiating, entering corner one just shy of breaching the triple digit barrier. In round 2 Robbie led with Gushi following. Robbie shot straight down the hill with tires smoking as he entered turn one, followed closely by Gushi. As he entered the teardrop of the course, both drivers remained door to door, as the crowd went into an uproar over the level of skill and speed that both drivers displayed. After a clean run from both drivers, the judges ruled in favor of Gushi. With a great performance, Robbie showcased to the crowd the sheer gripping power of the Hankook Ventus RS-3, the handling capability of KW Suspension and the competitive building and tuning capabilities of the Gruppe S team, thanks to the performance products of our sponsors. To date Robbie remains the highest ranked Hankook Driver in Formula Drift.

The event overall provided all of the sponsors of the Dynamic Autosports / Hankook Tire Drift team with extensive exposure to the thousands of avid race fans of Northern California, specifically to the major demographic and consumer of aftermarket racing components. In conjunction with the Indy Grand Prix Association of Sonoma, the Dynamic Autosports / Hankook Tire Drift team was apart of a drift demonstration to the vast crowd attending the prestigious Indy race that weekend, increasing the already extensive exposure provided at each Formula Drift event to race fans all over the world following the exciting open wheel Indy race series. This was a monumental weekend for the team and all of its sponsors, with media coverage spanning across the internet, various notable print media publications as well as notable video broadcast mediums internationally.
Team Dynamic Autosports would like to thank all our sponsors: Hankook Tires, ACT Clutches, AEM, Brian Crower, C-West, Enkei Wheels, HPI Racing, JE Pistons, KW Suspension, PPG, Nissan, and Status.
